17-year old Girl sent to buy garri raped to death in Anambra State

A 17 - year- old girl has been gang -raped and killed in Ogwugwu village, Oba, in the Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State . The deceased , who just finished her West African Senior School Certificate Examination , was said to have been attacked and raped by six young men while on her way to buy garri for dinner around 7 pm on Wednesday . A source told our correspondent that the suspects believed to be known to the victim had lured her to an uncompleted one - storeyed building where she was raped and killed . The source said , “ The boys lured her to an uncompleted building , where they took turn to rape her until she became weak . “ They threw her down from the storey building so that she would not expose them. ” He added that the girl ’ s corpse had been deposited in a morgue . Driver who stole N10m goods arrested while praying for forgiveness.

A factory driver , Dominic Nege, has been arrested by operatives of the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly stealing goods valued at N10.3m. The goods reportedly belonged to Rabel Nigeria Limited , a subsidiary of International Breweries . PUNCH Metro learnt that on Wednesday, 14th, March 2018 , Nege was sent to deliver 143 crates of beer at Bonny Camp , Victoria Island , Lagos. He was alleged to have switched off his phone and diverted the goods . It was gathered that when efforts to locate him proved abortive , the case was reported to the police. Lekki doctor flogs and orders nurse to kneel down

A doctor in the Lekki area of Lagos State, Dr Emmanuel Okolo, has been accused of brutalising a nurse, Dorcas Adeyera. The incident happened at the Awoyaya Hospital and Maternity Centre, Ibeju Lekki. PUNCH Metro gathered that Okolo and Adeyera’s misunderstanding stemmed from the treatment of a patient rushed into the medical facility in the early hours of Monday. Okolo was alleged to have frowned on the admission of the accident victim without his consent, blaming Adeyera for the action. The medical doctor allegedly summoned the 23-year-old into his office and ordered her to kneel down. When the victim refused, 35-year-old Okolo was alleged to have dealt her several slaps and also flogged her with a belt. The All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Ekiti, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has said Governor Ayodele Fayose will not be allowed to move about on the election day of July 14. He assured the people of adequate security on the day, urging them to come out en-mass to perform their civic duties. According to him, Fayose will only be allowed to vote and go back to his house in Afao-Ekiti. Man attempts killing wife for failing to have male children

Police in Nyamira area of Kenya are looking for a man who allegedly attempted to kill his wife over what he termed his wife’s failure to give birth to boys. The suspect, Joash Misati, locked his wife, Rebecca Kerubo and three daughters inside their house in Bonyamatuta Chache location in Kenya, set it ablaze and fled, leaving them for death, reports Kenya’s Citizen. Fortunately, the woman’s eldest daughter, who was in a separate house within the compound, came to their rescue and opened the door before the incident could turn fatal. The fire could, however, not be contained as the entire house burned to the ground. Witch doctor uses hot iron on woman to drive out evil spirits

An Indian woman had her tongue branded with a hot iron by a witch doctor who thought she was possessed by evil spirits. Jatha Devi, 25, from Pali in Rajasthan, had been unwell for some time; so, husband Kishan Jat, a daily wage labourer, took her to a government-run hospital. But when her condition did not improve, Jatha’s relatives claimed she was possessed by evil spirits and suggested she be taken to a witch doctor, reports Daily Mail. The witch doctors believe in burning the skin with a hot tong or piece of iron to cure certain illnesses and also claim to have the knowledge to perform exorcisms. Her parents, Bhanwar Lal and Sanjini Devi, also labourers, took Jatha to witch doctor Jairam Bhat on Sunday. During the ‘treatment’ the witch doctor mercilessly branded her lips, tongue, forehead and arms for two days with a hot trident. A 25-year-old man has allegedly been caught red-handed engaging in sex with his father’s wife in the bush. The situation took place at Mudzami Village under Huchu area in Gokwe, Zimbabwe, prompting Chief Nemangwe whose jurisdiction the area falls under to investigate. Reports say Bubbingeon Musekiwa Ndaba was allegedly hoodwinked into the unholy relationship with his 67-year-old father, Isaac Ndaba’s wife, Naume Langson. Police in Kogi State have arrested a cleric, Oluwasegun Aturu, and two others over the suspected ritual killing of a 19-year-old commercial sex worker, Miss Mercy Moses. The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, ASP William Aya confirmed the arrest of the suspects to newsmen in Lokoja on Friday. He said that Aturu who claimed to be the shepherd in charge of Voice of Canaan Temple, Cherubim and Seraphim Aladura Church, Ozuri, in Adavi Local Government Area of the state was arrested on the 19th of June  He was arrested alongside Samuel Oluwasegun and Abdulmumini Yakubu, all of Ozuri area in the local government, he said. Woman falls into oven during epileptic seizure

A woman suffered horrific burns and almost had to have her fingers amputated after she fell into a hot oven during an epileptic seizure. Shaz McCormack, 20, from Maidstone, Kent, suffered a four-minute long convulsion while she was cooking a roast dinner for her family. Thankfully, a neighbour heard banging and alerted the fire brigade who rescued her. Shaz, a care home nursing assistant, suffered third-degree burns to both her arms and needed skin grafts to repair the damage. She says: “I’ve been left scarred all over my hands which I’m very self-conscious about. I always wear a jumper to cover them up, even in hot weather. “Doctors almost had to amputate my fingers due to the severity of the burns. President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday approved the appointment of four non-executive directors for the Central Bank of Nigeria. The Permanent Secretary (General Services Office), Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Olusegun Adekunle, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists. According to the statement, the new appointees are Adeola Adetunji, Prof. Mike Obadan, Prof. Justitia Nnabuko and Prof. Ummu Ahmed Jalingo. Adekunle said the appointments were for initial period of four years with effect from June 7. The President also appointed Prof. Abdullahi Yusuf as the Chief Medical Director of the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital for an initial period of four years with effect from June 19. President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday said the death of Sarkin Fadan Kano, Alhaji Sule Gaya, has robbed the country of one its humblest and dedicated parliamentarians. In a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, the President said one of the greatest legacies a man could leave behind was his unblemished integrity. Brothers allegedly kidnap three-year-old, asks for ransom

Two brothers Meshak Felix and Chinechirem Felix  on Friday appeared at an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly kidnapping a three-year-old baby and demanding a N600,000 ransom. The accused, Meshak, 25, and Chinechirem, 23 are facing three counts of conspiracy, kidnap and stealing, to which they pleaded not guilty. According to Police Prosecutor Julius Babatope, the accused committed the offences on June 2 at Dog Kennel at Railway Compound, Ebute Meta, Yaba. Babatope alleged that the accused kidnapped and detained the child and threatened to kill him if the ransom was not paid. “The duo had threatened to kill the boy if his parents failed to meet their demand,” he said. He said the accused also stole two Nokia phones valued at N8,000 from the complainant, Mrs. Mary Chidi.
